This is our first
French Friday with
Dorie! I look forward to baking with this group out of Dorie Greenspan's new cookbook
around my french table, which is a very beautiful and large cookbook (more than 300 recipes)! Our first recipe is also the first recipe in the book -
gougeres! We won't be posting recipes, but I encourage you to purchase this absolutely beautiful book. This recipe was easy to make and the end result made me think I just might be good at this french cooking!! Another plus with this recipe is that you can freeze the mounds on a baking sheet and then when they are solid you can pack them in a airtight container and bake them as you need them! I love when you can make things in advance! I have one of my sister's visiting in a few weeks and can't wait to take these out of the freezer and enjoy with a little bubbly! I did bake up a half dozen and enjoyed them very much!

| Turn the dough into the bowl of a mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add eggs one at a time. |
 |
| Using about 1 tablespoon for each gougere. |

Your gougeres look delicious. Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautifully done! I have to ask, how did you get your spoonfuls to be so rounded?
ReplyDeleteI don't have Dorie's new book yet but it sounds wonderful. I've made gougeres in cooking class and they are wonderful. Yours are beautifully puffed and so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Just getting my post up too! Next time I'm going to try your suggestion of freezing. I do this for cookies all the time but if I could have these at the ready that would be great!

Lovely!! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gougeres!
ReplyDeletevery lovely -- so glad you enjoyed them
ReplyDeleteHi Haden and Thanks for commenting on my blog. I just had to check this book out at amazon.com and they had the recipe for this one and a few others. I wished she would have put the calories count on the recipe, but sometimes who cares when you see something this good. I may try it for the holidays. Will put the book on my wish list.

How fun! Your gourgeres look beautiful. I want to join this group! I need to buy Dorie's book.
ReplyDeleteI also recieved a new kitchen aid mixer but mine is red. How excited are we?! I loved your idea of using the scoop. I wish I would have done that instead of the two spoon method. Thank goodness they puffed up due to all the egg or they would have looked like pancakes!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteYour gougeres are crispy golden perfection! Baking these straight out of the freezer is such a wonderful idea for entertaining.
