Pissaladiere - FFwD

This week (yes I am posting late)the FFwD group was to make Pissaladiere.  Looks like a pizza, my husband kept asking where is the cheese!  I love caramelized onions, so I knew I would like this.  I am not a fan of whole anchovies, I used the anchovies in a tube because I knew the flavor would be an important part of this dish.
It was a lot of onions and a lot of "crying" to make this dish!  I have tried all the tricks, but always tear up when I cut my onions!!
This was delicious, I didn't have the nicoise olives, but the kalamata olives worked fine.  We had this for dinner with salad.  Looking forward to next weeks dish -- Pumpkin Stuffed with everything good!!

  1. You aren't alone - those onions were tear jerkers.

  2. I often use the paste in recipes too, but this time I went for the whole fillets! Looks like your dough and onion mixture turned out great (nice caramelizing).

  3. Better late then never! So glad you got to make this one. I thought is was really delicious but I didn't use the anchovies in the onions and picked them off the top! The paste is a good idea, I might have to try that next time. I really enjoyed this dish. Your pissaladiere looks wonderful, glad you enjoyed it!

  4. Yours looks great - perfect crust ! I did not try this one as I am not an anchovy fan - but Nana is and she liked this dish. We agreed to revisit the recipe over the Thanksgiving break and play around with various toppings. Very versatile and fun. And great with wine !! Enjoy~
